Last week the Green Mountain State, despite its Republican governor warning of the likely ruinous costs of defending it against a legal onslaught the likes of which the world has never seen, became the first jurisdiction on Earth to enact a law that will require Big Oil to compensate a government for causing climate damage to its infrastructure.
